Increasing Equity, Accessibility, and Stakeholder Engagement (EASE) at PURA
What is the EASE docket?
The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) is discussing how to increase equity and accessibility to their decision-making processes. PURA is focusing on four key topics to better inform how PURA will expand and increase equity and access:
Easier, meaningful, and more efficient stakeholder participation
Constraints and obstacles that limit effective stakeholder participation
Information to help customers better understand what PURA does
Key accessibility tools and services PURA should offer
These topics are being addressed through a formal regulatory process (known as a docket), a series of public and technical meetings, and small-group discussions.
Why is this topic important?
PURA is responsible for making sure that Connecticut's electric, natural gas, water, and telecommunications utilities provide safe, clean, reliable, and affordable service. To make its decisions, PURA opens formal spaces to discuss specific issues (called dockets). PURA can only make decisions based on the information that stakeholders add to a docket. To make the best decisions possible, PURA is exploring ways to bring more perspectives into the decision-making process. This means making it easier for Connecticut ratepayers to share their expertise, lived experience, and ideas with PURA.
